Job Purpose

Technician, SSHE assists Supervisor, Operations & Senior Technician, SSHE in the implementation and monitoring of Safety, Security, Health and Environment (SSHE) activities in the field. The jobholder demonstrates felt leadership and commitment on SSHE; applies and advises others on applying SSHE management system to work activities; administrates SSHE activities; monitors and ensures adherence to all SSHE policies, regulations and procedures on site; promotes the protection of the environment; and support in conduction of SSHE training and SSHE drills as directed by Supervisor, Operations & Senior Technician, SSHE.

Key Accountabilities (1)

  • Apply SSHE management system to work activities and ensure compliance by others. Example includes risk assessment, permit-to-work, chemical management, lifesaving rules, management of change, process safety etc.
  • Supervise & support operation activities of assigned personnel and contractors to comply with SSHE policies,  procedures and EIA commitments
  • Provide guidance/ advice on Operational Safety, Process Safety, Security, Hygiene, and Environment to field personnel
  • Assist Supervisor, Operations & Senior Technician, SSHE on SSHE activities administration, training, audit and inspection or as directed.

Key Accountabilities (2)

  • Provide SSHE input in risk assessment e.g. JSA, HAZID, HAZOP, MOC and assist task owner in verification of safety precautions prior to and during activity execution
  • Test and check designated fixed and portable fire, safety, spill response, and rescue equipment in the Field. Also request maintenance in case the equipment is not in good operating condition or nearly reaches expiry date
  • Monitor the equipment tests and checks, and report deficiencies to Supervisor, Operations & Senior Technician, SSHE for further action
  • Carry out the first line maintenance and repair of safety equipment such as fire hoses, extinguishers, gas testers, self-contained breathing apparatus and lifesaving equipment
  • Witness hot and cold work carried out in the field area and provide advice related to SSHE policy, standard, and procedure

Key Accountabilities (3)

  • Ensure all SSHE policies and procedures and permit-to-work system are strictly adhered to by the crews on the site
  • Provide accurate inspection and report incident and anomalies observed to Supervisor, Operations & Senior Technician, SSHE
  • Facilitate safety drill and exercise including safety training. Act as a designated team member in case of incidents
  • Comply and promote the Company’s SSHE policy, rules and regulations to all works under responsibility
  • Assist inspections/ audits of facilities and operation activities to ensure compliance to safe and good working practices and SSHE policies and procedures e.g. permit-to-work; MOC; SSHE MS

Key Accountabilities (4)

Emergency Response Tasks:

  • Carry out the duties as member of intervention team during emergencies which may include, but not limited to aircraft incident, marine incident, hydrocarbon release, loss of well control, fire, man overboard, occupation incident, and missing person incident, etc.

  • Assimilate diverse and fragmented information
  • Monitor and response to situation change
  • Identify hazard and manage risk

 

Professional Knowledge & Experiences

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or SSHE related field
  • Technical Diploma in occupational health and safety or Certified Professional Safety Officer
  • 5 years’ experience in SSHE and fire fighting operations in oil and gas industry or similar
  • Good command of both spoken and written English
