Job Purpose

Technician, Electrical and Instrumentation (FSO) carries out preventive and corrective maintenance on the electrical and instrument equipment of Floating Storage Offloading Unit (FSO) including hydraulic control system for PLEM valve. The job holder troubleshoots breakdowns, executes, repairs and reports major problems to Chief Engineer (FSO). In addition, he maintains good housekeeping at work site and E&I workshop and ensures tools and equipment are kept in good working order and regular spare parts inventory check.

Key Accountabilities

  • Monitor the FSO electrical and instrument equipment performance and complete log sheets. 
  • Execute electrical and instrument preventive and corrective maintenance of main/emergency electric power generation and distribution systems, electrical transformer, battery, ventilation & HVAC, provision refrigeration system, CCTV system, communication & internet system, conventional instrumentation, fire and gas systems: ESD logics control systems and condensate loading & offloading metering system, hydraulic PLEM valve system as per schedule and job cards, and in accordance with Chief Engineer (FSO)’s instructions.  
  • Report on spare part and consumable requirement and suggest improvement for the schedule and the frequency of preventive maintenance. 
  • Troubleshoot faults and carry out repairs by using available tools and control equipment, drawings, diagrams and vendors manuals. 
  • Carry out electrical isolation as per electrical isolation permit procedures. 
  • Complete electrical and instrument maintenance logbook, work order summary reports, daily time sheets and submit to Chief Engineer (FSO). 
  • Draft work requests and requisitions concerning maintenance and supply of consumables and submit to Chief Engineer (FSO) for approval including update on spare part inventory. 
  • Supervise the engine room work activities which carry out by contractor. 
  • Comply with and promote the Company’s SSHE policy, rules and regulations to all work under responsibility. 

Emergency Response Tasks: 

  • Act as a fire team member for electrical isolation, ventilation isolation and control & operate Foam Pump and isolate the electrical power for battery charger of lifeboat when ship’s abandon. 
  • Act as command team member in FSO Cargo Control Room, to conduct on log event record.      contributing to the achievement of Department’s objective. 

Professional Knowledge & Experiences

  • Technical Diploma in Electrical, Instrument or related field plus 2-year formal E&I training 
  • Possess a suitable certificate of Electrical safety. 
  • 5 years’ experience in maintenance of electrical and instrumentation equipment in oil and gas industry 
  • 5 years’ experience as Electrician on ship powered by main propulsion machinery of 3000 kW or more 
  • Field working experience is required in instrumentation, electrical/ hydraulic/ pneumatic control system. 
  • Fair command of both spoken and written English
