๋Job Purpose
Geoscientist is responsible for a variety of subsurface multidisciplinary tasks and planning including asset management in order to support and facilitate the activities of the joint-venture projects (exploration and production). The job holder also assists in the preparation of technical information, official documents and in special projects and ensure adherence to PTTEP rules & regulations and local compliances & requirements.
Key Accountabilities
- Responsible for supporting aggregate operations in Oman Exploration and Production Project with the geoscience and engineering tasks including but not limited to seismic acquisition /processing /interpretation, mapping, modelling, prospect
maturation, resources and reserves estimation calculations, well targeting, drilling - logging operation, formation evaluation, well-testing, and production data analysis. - Analyze and interpret data using computer software specific to geoscience.
- Collaborate with other geoscientists and engineers for exploration/appraisal planning, field development plan and production planning, including implementation, and monitoring.
- Assist management and asset coordinators in providing efficient project management strategy.
- Prepare exploration plans and establish action plans together with other geoscientists and asset coordinators for key milestones that will have major impacts on the operation and project management.
- Review subsurface technical and production information of the Technical, Operating and Management Committee Meeting Agenda as per Joint-Operating Agreement and Petroleum Contract, contributing to its preparation, and summarize the minutes of meeting to management and team when participating.
- Coordinate with the operator on the exploration and production planning and activity performance under the exploration and production contract/agreement.
- Work closely with the asset coordinators, asset technical team, economist, and finance to prepare work program and budget for the approval process and monitoring.
- Develop and maintain databases to support technical studies across short, mid, and long-term plans.
- Act as a representative or focal point for collaboration with partners, the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, and the local Geological Society during regular meetings and special events.
- Research technical topics and news from articles and reports for continued education and knowledge sharing.
- Participate in local conferences and meetings in association with other geoscientists in the company, contributing to joint
papers and articles.
Professional Knowledge & Experiences
- Bachelor's Geology, Geophysics, or related field.
- 5 years' experience in subsurface evaluation and exploration/production project management and related subsurface tools and technologies.
- Good command of spoken and written English.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, teamwork-minded and mature.
- Ability to plan and organize.
- Dedication to ethical conduct and professionalism.
Additional Desirable Qualifications
- Degree in Petroleum Geoscience.
- Good knowledge of Exploration and Production activities in Oman.
- Exposure or direct experience in Project Management and Full Field Evaluation.
- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and solve unexpected problems in an appropriate manner.
- Technical publications and professional memberships.
