Job Purpose

Engineer, Well Operations (Asset retirement) is in charge of study for any special interventions, workover and asset retirement activities e.g., coiled tubing, workover, well P&A. The job holder provides technical and operation expertise to support well operations to ensure all works designed in compliance with company policies, regulation and industry standards, prepare and follow the operations execution, optimize the efficiency, safety performance, evaluate and close out the campaigns with after-action review, lessons learnt for continual operations improvement. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Conduct engineering study and evaluate new technology to support well operation for Safety and Efficiency improvement and other requirements.
  • Overall accountable for planning and support of execution of assigned well service activities
  • Plan and develop operational programs, procedures, budget and schedules assuring technical and cost justification with SSHE consideration
  • Coordinate with Superintendent/Supervisor, Well Operations during preparation of operations and execution phase. Ensure that the operations comply with the programs, processes and Company’s standards
  • Manage and control the operations, and establish logistical needs in collaboration with concerned personnel/parties
  • Control inventory of equipment to assure no shortage or standby of rigs (or other operating units) due to unavailability of the equipment
  • Prepare Call for Tender (CFT) package and participate in bids evaluation and selection of equipment and service contractors, based on defined scope of services; technical specifications, SSHE requirements, and commercial proposals at company’s best interest
  • Serve as Contracts Holder to ensure performance of contract/services
  • Provide advice and resolve problems on technical/operational aspects in order to eliminate any delay in the work schedule  
  • Review and update Operation Procedure Manual (OPM) for each activity
  • Prepare end of well reports and capture lessons learnt at the end of the campaign or after troubleshooting to improve operations performance
  • Review technical analysis/justification of recommendation to ensure proper engineering design and operation execution
  • Seek for performance improvement and cost reduction opportunity with safety/environmental standards and regulatory compliance
  • Supervise, coach and mentor the junior engineers on technical and operational issues
  • Promote and ensure the implementation of company’s SSHE policies and regulations and industrial standards in all works under responsibility

Professional Knowledge & Experiences

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in offshore oil and gas industry
  • Coiled tubing, workover well P&A operation experience is a plus
  • Well Control certificate for drilling or well intervention operations is a plus
  • Good command of written and spoken English
