Engineer, SSHE Support
Job Purpose
Engineering Operational Safety is responsible for carrying out operational safety related work. The job holder provides advice and technical supports to overall PTTEP and contractor in compliance with company’s SSHE policies, standards & procedures. He/she participates in conducting independent investigations, analyzing underlying of accidents/near misses to recommend remedial actions. He/She promotes safety awareness and implementation within all PTTEP operational sites. He/She should able to perform audit/inspection of contractor and vendor at their operational sites.
Key Accountabilities
• Provide operational Occupational Health & Safety advice and technical support to site personnel involved in all operations, including SSHE technical support to all departments and contractor under PTTEP operation.
• Ensure contractors' SSHE standards meet all SSHE requirements and comply with regulatory standards.
• Lead in conducting independent investigations into accidents, near misses, and work-related diseases with real or potential impact on company assets, personnel, environment, or reputation; analyse underlying causes using Cause Tree Analysis (CTA) and /or other methodology, recommend remedial actions, monitor follow-up, and ensuring closure of findings and recommendations.
• Demonstrate safety leadership and promote safety awareness among employees and contractors.
• Maintain and update logs of accidents, near misses, and unsafe acts and conditions.
• Track, analyse, and report SSHE performance on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
• Develop and implement SSHE Plan and new safety initiatives to improve SSHE performance.
• Ensure successful implementation, monitoring, and tracking of SSHE Plan and SSHE initiatives through constant liaison with all stakeholders.
• Develop, revise, and implement safety standards, procedures, and guidelines under the SSHE Management System.
• Facilitate the implementation of the Behavioural-Based Safety (BBS) and Learning from Normal Work(LFNW) program.
• Conduct or participate in risk assessment sessions and demonstrate risk mitigation in line with ALARP (As Low As Reasonably Practicable) principles, prioritizing mitigations, and following up on remedial actions.
• Interpret and apply relevant SSHE legislation in the workplace. Provide information on SSHE-related regulatory requirements to ensure full compliance.
• Conduct and deliver quality SSHE training courses, SSHE Workshop and SSHE Forum to PTTEP staff and contractors.
• Maintain and develop technical networks and relationships with professional disciplines and external parties to ensure cooperation and support.
• Provide expert opinions and advice to supervisors and managers in resolving SSHE matters.
• Report SSHE activities and issues to relevant stakeholders.
• Ensure that SSHE lessons learned are recorded, analysed, and shared.
• Prepare SSHE Contract Requirement, Call for Tender (CFT), Technical Clarification (TC) and Technical Bid Evaluation (TBE)
• Lead SSHE contractor audits at company premises or contractor yards worldwide.
• Conduct routine SSHE inspections and audits, following up on findings and recommendations until closure.
Professional Knowledge & Experiences
• Bachelor/Master’s Degree in Engineering or Occupational Health and Safety Science.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in oil and gas industry.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience of safety related field.
• Good knowledge of safety operations/engineering.
• Good interpersonal and analytical skills.
• Good command of spoken and written English.
Additional Desirable Qualification
• Professional Safety Officer certificate is an advantage,
• Presentation, negotiation, and communication skill
• Experience in Decommissioning projects for Oil and gas industry is an advantage
• Willing and able to frequently travel and stay for long periods in upcountry, internationally, and offshore is required.
