(Senior) Geologist
PTTEP Services Limited
Job Purpose
PTTEP seeks an experienced and innovative Senior Petrophysicist to join our multidisciplinary subsurface team. The candidate will lead advanced petrophysical evaluations, integrate well data with geological and engineering studies, and provide key insights to optimize reservoir characterization and development strategies. This role is instrumental in driving data-driven, decision-making, and delivering value in complex carbonate, clastic, or unconventional reservoirs as thin bed and tight reservoirs.
Key Accountabilities
- Advanced Petrophysical Interpretation: Perform comprehensive analyses of well log, core, and production data to evaluate reservoir properties, fluid distributions.
- Well Data Acquisition: Design, implement, and oversee well logging programs, including wireline, logging while drilling (LWD), and core acquisition, to optimize data quality and cost efficiency.
- Integration & Collaboration: Work closely with geoscientists, reservoir engineers, to integrate petrophysical results into subsurface models and field development plans.
- Technology Leadership: Leverage advanced petrophysical tools and software (e.g., LogSight, Techlog) and explore emerging AI/ML techniques for innovative interpretation workflows.
- Mentorship & Knowledge Transfer: Guide and mentor junior staff, ensuring effective skill development and knowledge sharing within the petrophysics team, QC result and ensure accuracy.
- Reservoir Optimization: Advise critical input into perforation, completion, and production optimization strategies based on formation evaluation.
- Stakeholder Communication: Prepare and present technical reports, interpretations, and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders to support decision-making.
- Emerging Trends: Stay abreast of industry advancements and integrate new technologies and methodologies to enhance organizational capability in petrophysics.
Professional Knowledge & Experiences
- Industry Experience: A minimum of 20 years of experience in petrophysics, with significant exposure to carbonate and unconventional reservoirs (i.e. thin bed and tight sand reservoir).
- Technical Expertise: Strong skills in advanced well-log interpretation, core analysis integration, and formation evaluation. Familiarity with thin-bed analysis, NMR, dielectric, and imaging logs is a plus, and construction for petrophysical study in clastic, carbonate, complex reservoirs, and application of petrophysical data for geomechanics is an advantage.
- Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with industry-standard software platforms such as Geolog, Techlog and IP.
- AI/ML Knowledge: Experience or interest in applying Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technologies in petrophysical workflows.
- Operational Acumen: Proven track record in designing and managing well-data acquisition campaigns and contributing to field development plans (FDP).
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead projects, mentor junior staff, and work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary and multicultural team.
- Communication & Reporting: The ability to present conclusions and recommendations clearly and succinctly to convey complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
