(Senior) Geologist
Job Purpose
Sequence Stratigrapher/Sedimentologist with extensive experience focusing on carbonate sedimentology and seismic sequence stratigraphy to all data scales (cores, well-logs, and seismic data). Work will include a range of pro-jects from regional basin level to development scale projects. Proficiency in sequence stratigraphy methodology and sedimentological processes is required. The candidate will work with the basin analysis team, which is part of the subsurface technical solution department. He/ She will serve as a stratigraphy and sedimentology advisor, QA/QC works, teach internal courses, and mentor junior staff in sedimentology and stratigraphy geological work.
Key Accountabilities
• Demonstrate a technical proficient understanding of carbonate rock description, sedimentary facies analysis, depo-sitional system & environments, carbonate diagenesis, and reservoir quality prediction.
• Apply laboratory techniques, including petrography, XRD, SEM, Cathodoluminescence, and stable and radiogenic isotopic composition, such as Carbon, Oxygen, Strontium, and Clumped, to stratigraphic and diagenesis questions.
• Conducts detailed analysis of sedimentary sequences to identify and interpret the lateral facies and change in dep-ositional environments, including integration of facies analysis in core and wells, biostratigraphy, and seismic data.
• Apply sequence stratigraphic principles and methodology to establish the stratigraphic framework of a basin.
• Interpret seismic data, well logs, cores, and other geological data to build accurate stratigraphic models.
• Advise on necessary data acquisition programs for sedimentology and stratigraphy in exploration and development wells.
• Stay current with the latest advancements and research in sequence stratigraphy and related fields.
• A good understanding of petroleum system analysis and ability to integrate sequence stratigraphic expertise with other subsurface disciplines.
• Prepares technical reports, presentations, and papers.
• A track record of research publications would be an advantage.
• Ability to teach sequence stratigraphy and sedimentology courses and mentor junior staff.
Professional Knowledge & Experiences
• Master’s degree or higher in Geosciences
• 10+ years of experience in sequence stratigraphy, sedimentology, and basin studies, especially in carbonate reservoir
• Have worked multiple basins around the world
• Coaching and mentoring capability
• Good background in subsurface software (Petrel, DSG, Paleoscan, DionisosFlow, etc.) and systems
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Good command of both written and spoken English
• Expatriates will be considered.
