(Senior) Engineer, Engineering Standard and Capital Project Management Support
Job Purpose
(Senior) Engineer, Engineering Standard and Capital Project Management (Primary - Lean Six Sigma Responsibilities) is responsible for driving Engineering Excellence through the development and continuous improvement of Engineering Management Systems (EMS), engineering standards, capital project management frameworks, governance practices, and performance improvement initiatives. The role serves as a focal point for engineering and project excellence, supporting capability development, and sustainable business performance across Engineering, Project, and Execution teams.
Key Accountabilities
1. Engineering Excellence & Management Systems
• Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the Engineering Management System (EMS), standards, procedures, guidelines, templates, and recommended practices.
• Drive standardization and governance to ensure consistency, effectiveness, and compliance across engineering disciplines and projects.
• Assess EMS maturity, effectiveness, and adoption, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency and user experience.
• Ensure alignment with relevant international standards, industry practices, and regulatory requirements, including IOGP, ISO/TC67, and corporate governance requirements.
• Provide subject matter expertise and guidance on engineering standards and management systems
2. Capital Project Management Excellence
• Develop and maintain project management frameworks, methodologies, tools, and governance processes supporting capital project delivery.
• Promote consistency and best practices in project planning, cost estimation, risk management, schedule management, quality assurance, and performance monitoring.
• Advise project teams on project governance requirements, assurance processes, and project management standards.
• Monitor project management performance indicators and identify opportunities to strengthen project execution effectiveness.
• Facilitate benchmarking and adoption of industry-leading project management practices.
3. Continuous Improvement & Value Delivery (Primary Responsibilities)
• Lead and facilitate cross-functional improvement initiatives to enhance engineering and project performance.
• Apply Lean, Six Sigma, data-driven analysis, and structured problem-solving methodologies to address business challenges and improve operational effectiveness.
• Identify opportunities for process optimization, simplification, automation, and digital enablement.
• Drive measurable business outcomes such as cycle-time reduction, quality improvement, productivity enhancement, cost optimization, and risk reduction.
• Embed improvement outcomes into standards, workflows, procedures, tools, and management systems to ensure sustainability of benefits.
4. Capability Building & Change Enablement (Primary Responsibilities)
• Develop and deliver capability-building programs related to engineering excellence, capital project management, continuous improvement, and management systems.
• Coach and facilitate project teams, process owners, and improvement practitioners in applying structured improvement methodologies and best practices.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, innovation, and learning across the organization.
• Capture, manage, and disseminate lessons learned, best practices, and institutional knowledge.
5. Strategy & Performance Management (Primary Responsibilities)
• Support the development and execution of Function Group strategy, objectives, roadmaps, and budgets.
• Translate strategic priorities into actionable improvement and capability development plans.
• Align engineering excellence, project excellence, and continuous improvement initiatives with Function Group priorities and business objectives.
• Monitor progress and prepare insights, reports, and recommendations for management decision-making and governance reviews.
Professional Knowledge & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or related disciplines.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in engineering, project management, technical governance, management systems, operational excellence, or business improvement.
- Knowledge of Engineering Management Systems (EMS), engineering standards, capital project management, risk and quality management, and project lifecycle governance.
- Demonstrated ability to drive business/work process improvement initiatives, develop standards and frameworks, and facilitate cross-functional collaboration.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, facilitation, coaching, communication, stakeholder management, and change leadership skills.
- Experience in oil and gas, energy, petrochemical, or other technically intensive industries is preferred.
- Professional certifications in Lean Six Sigma, Project Management, Operational Excellence, or equivalent disciplines are preferred.
