Staff Engineer, Subsea Controls

Reporting to: Head of Subsea Maintenance & Inspections

Division/Department: PLS / PBF / PBF/M

Location: KL Office

1. KEY OBJECTIVE

  • Provide practical and technical engineering support to maintain and assure the integrity and, operability of Subsea Production Control System (SPCS) covering both topside and subsea equipment.

 

  • Development of work scopes, specifications and technical evaluation criteria to support company procurement process in securing contracts and service agreements, as necessary, to support Subsea Maintenance and Inspection operations.

 

  • Responsible for planning and execution of Subsea IMR (Inspection, Maintenance and Repair) campaigns.

 

  • Responsible for method statement and workpack development for offshore subsea IMR (Inspection, Maintenance and Repair/Intervention) campaign

 

  • Responsible for subsea intervention equipment/tooling planning, testing, maintenance, preservation and availability as well as supporting logistics arrangements.

 

  • Function as PTTEP Representative at site (onshore/offshore) as when required during routine and non-routine subsea inspection or subsea intervention activities.

2. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Ensure company and PETRONAS HSE and safe practices are adhered to throughout all subsea operations and interfaces.

 

  • Coordinate all activities associated with operation of SPCS including maintenance, troubleshooting, spares, software upgrades, SCM refurbishments, testing etc.

 

  • Manage subsea operations issue identification and mitigation strategy, as and when required

 

  • Witness point of testing, loadout of subsea hardware and software.

 

  • Develop work packs, troubleshooting instructions, procedures, reports and data management.

 

  • Manage planning and executing preventive & corrective maintenance activities, including software updates and hardware replacements.

 

 

2.1 KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Responsible for developing contract plans including preparing contract bid packages based on the requirement

 

  • Interface with suppliers, contractors, and other third parties to ensure to ensure the timely delivery, quality, and compliance of subsea equipment and services.

 

  • Develop coaching and mentoring program for relevant team members and service contractors/business partners.

 

  • Manage obsolescence issues and asset life extension studies.

 

  • Participate in RA and HAZID as required.

 

  • Assist with managing finance, budgets and AFE's for Subsea Maintenance & Inspections.

3. KEY AUTHORITIES

  • As provided/assigned by Head of Subsea Maintenance and Inspections.

4. WORKING RELATIONSHIP

  • Working with all team member and reporting to Head of Subsea Maintenance and Inspections.

 

  • Co-ordinate support from Original Equipment Manufacturers and service contractors/business partners.

 

  • Liaise with other related sections and sub-sections.

5. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in an Engineering related discipline or equivalent.
  • 15 years of working experience in upstream oil & gas developments specifically Subsea Production Controls System (SPCS) and relevant Topside/Onshore Control Systems such as DCS/SIS/PLC.
  • Experience working under offshore safety control systems – permit-to-work, risk assessments, job safety analysis.
  • Experience in risk assessments, root cause failure analyses, and offshore installation and commissioning activities related to the Subsea Production Control System.
  • Capable of planning complex work tasks, coordinating teams and contractors to safely and efficiently execute.
  • Capable of supervising individuals and teams in an offshore environment.
  • Capable of Mentoring and coaching as a Subject Matter Expert (SME).
  • Experience in handling IWOCS equipment is an advantage.
  • Fundamentals of Asset Integrity Management System to ensure the reliability, safety, and performance of subsea production equipment.

 

5.1 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in Fault finding, analysis of failure modes, and strategy development to minimize or eliminate failures.
  • Capable of developing and implementing maintenance programs.
  • Ability to travel with little or no notice to remote locations to manage corrective maintenance and operational issues.

 

  • Fit to work offshore.

 

  • Experience in developing work packs, documenting work instructions, writing procedures, reporting and data management.
  • Capable in developing, implementing and managing contracts with vendors.
  • Experience in managing material and spares inventory.
  • Experience of preparing budgets.
