POSITION                                     :         Senior Engineer, Operations

REPORTING TO                             :         Head of Sarawak Operations Support Section

DIVISION/DEPARTMENT                 :         Sabah Production Operations Section (PBS/O)

LOCATION                                     :         Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

1. KEY OBJECTIVES

  • Support the Sarawak Asset in all operational, technical, and commercial aspects of safely and efficiently running SK309 and SK311.
  • Support Production Superintendents and Production Supervisors such that production systems are operated safely and efficiently, in accordance with Company and Industry practice established manuals, procedures, guidelines and instructions.

 

2. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Ensure all Production Operations Procedures, both routine and non-routine, are clearly documented and understood with field personnel.

 

  • Propose methods by which production rates can be optimized, then coordinate the actions required to achieve this, involving all available resources and expertise.

 

  • Bring additional focus to efforts aimed at reducing production loss due unplanned deferments and others.  Integrate efforts currently undertaken by Subsurface Engineering, Operations Engineering, and associated functional support groups to achieve the best overall outcome.

 

  • Provide Operations input to Development teams on future field development projects. Ensure that operational concerns are accounted for in the planning and execution of the development work, and that new developments gain the maximum benefit from past experience of operating the field.
  • Specify requirements, then review and approve technical documents, such as work procedures and operations reports. Assist site operations to coordinate information flow and knowledge required to ensure Management of Change and Operations Deviations are executed safely.

  • Provide support for offshore supervisors and crews by liaising with Engineering, Maintenance shore support, Logistics, HR, HSE and other functional supports, as required. This includes day to day operations and any Operations Integrity support such as critical documentations, PTW procedures, Override registers, Operating Envelopes and Alarm managements. Regular offshore visits for health check when required.
  • When required to do so, mobilize to site to perform suitable and sufficient investigation of sub-standard conditions, garnering support of other discipline SME knowledge to support the investigation.

  • Facilitate/ participate of any platform Turnaround/ shutdown planning and coordination of activities. Facilitates Pre-Shutdown and Pre-Start-Up Review to ensure smooth shutdown and start-up processes.

  • Provide Operations input during preparation of the annual budget. 

 

  • Provide Operations input to HAZOPs and Risk Assessments as required.

 

  • Work with Procurement Department to ensure all necessary contracts are in place, have the required ACV and are maintained as required.

 

  • Operate assigned contracts.  Communicate as required with contractors and vendors to ensure optimum performance and value are achieved.

 

  • Take over supervisory or management functions as required, during periods of absence.

 

  • Provide input for Management Committee Meeting, Integrated Operations Meeting, Asset Value Framing, Asset Management Integrated Review or other PETRONAS and JV Partners related deliverables as deemed required.

 

6. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, ideally with the majority of that time spent working for an upstream operator / PAC.
  • Qualification in a relevant degree in engineering.
  • Valid/ Able to obtain BOSIET certification. Valid AME medical, fit for offshore travels.
  • Experience with production optimization work.
  • Able to make decisions and plans for optimizing production in this environment.
  • Experience of shallow water development projects, and the operational input required to ensure the most successful result is achieved.
  • Broad upstream oil and gas operator experience, including interaction with other groups required to achieve results in complex, multi-discipline projects.
  • Must be an excellent communicator, with strong command of English.
  • Must be energetic, well organized, and effective personality. The job will require dedication, commitment, creativity and perseverance. 
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.  Able to make recommendations and decisions, justify and back-up actions and set directions with minimal supervision. Capable of backing-up field managers during periods of absence.
